Franz Ferdinand in Byblos

Franz Ferdinand are set to play in the Byblos Music Festival. Personally, I don’t really know the band, but they’re all the rage these days, and I’m happy for my home town. Even more so, because my dad is on the festival’s organizing committee! Yay Byblos. I also happen to know someone who’s going to have one extra incentive to visit this summer.

Set in and around the beautiful crusader castle, and spilling over into the old cobbled streets and the ancient Phoenician port, the Byblos festival draws an eclectic group of artists, as varied as the history of Byblos itself. One can stroll down the old streets, and catch shows by upcoming musicians, scattered around the place, every night for the entire duration of the festival. For free! In addition to that, the weekend nights carry the big name artists who take center stage. A beautiful event in a beautiful town.

The Byblos Festival has it all, music to please any taste, a setting rarely surpassed, and the glorious mediterranean atmosphere, it’s no wonder the festival is the coolest, and quickly becoming the most popular one in Lebanon (and erego, the region).
