The price of tolerance and liberalism

A CNN article recently discussed thearrests of two al Qaeda suspects in Germany. One of whome had been to several training camps in Afghanistan, had fought against the Americans there, and was now actively recruiting members inside Europe.

I personally welcome this move by the Germans. They are raiding homes, cracking down on Islamists, and making arrests all the time. However, I want to discuss the reasons why these people have taken Germany (among other European countries) as their bases of operation.

Germany is probably the country with the largest number of identified and arrested fundamentalist terrorists in Europe. This is not based on any figures that I have, but on the fact that one never hears of an act of evil related to Al-Qaeda without finding out that Muslims in Germany had some hand in it. From 9/11, their flagship, to Madrid, Afghanistan, etc… It seems AlQaeda is comfortable in Germany.

The problem, in my opinion, is very clear. Germans are too tolerant for their own good. In their attempts to be accepting and open to all (not socially, just technically) they have put their own lives, and those of their children in constant danger.

Sure, the fundamentalists won’t strike in Germany anytime soon. Why should they? Germans provide them with shelter, a respectable passport, access to the whole of Europe, all the while, indirectly helping them with their mass murders all over the world.

True, Germany’s dark history plays a big role in this. They may be trying to repay the sins of their parents, but there is no need to do this blindly. No need to accept all the scum of the world on their soil. No need to provide aid to those who need, but don’t deserve it. Personally, I not only find it frightening, I find it disgusting. It’s as if they try to justify these heinous acts, instead of condemning them. It’s a sad state of things when the ultimate tolerance is actually blind bias.

Europe is in danger. In danger of being swallowed whole by this evil movement. In danger of losing its’ cultural heritage. The snowball has already left the mountain top, it’s slowly accelerating, gaining volume, mass, and potency. I guess the situation is not really that desperate. Nor is it that late. But action must be taken now. If for nothing else, then for the preservation of people’s right to be tolerant and liberal on this continent.

Sort of an oxymoron, isn’t it?
