Various bits and thoughts

First, I am really considering finally going for a dream that I’ve had for a long time. I am considering writing something. I have several ideas and just need to get myself together and start. Anyone know how to proceed? What does an “aspiring author” need to do? (??Advice??)

Secondly. I have finally finished my exams. Actually, since i’ve sat for 11 exams, spread over a few weeks, some results have started to come out already. I thought that I did really bad on a few, definitely failed a couple, and did ok/good on the rest. Apparently the teachers think otherwise. One of the really bad ones, and one that I though I had failed were corrected, and not only did I pass, I did quite well. Surprise. Enough with the update. Something happened to me last Sunday while I was preparing for the last exam. One hell of a put-you-in-your-place, humbling experience.
So, for this last lecture, it was possible to download video recordings of the lecture (teacher speaking in class, and the slides he’s showing). Now, I had missed most of the classes, and thought (after reading the slides a couple of times) that it would be good to watch them. It would be as if I had really attended. The teacher has a small review of the previous week at the start of each lecture, and the students are the ones who supply the details and explain the topics discussed. As a motivation, I would watch the tape, answer the questions aloud, and then listen to what other students were answering on the recording (most of the time wrong answers) and shout at them. Stupid, I know, but with my loss of motivation, I was willing to try anything.

So, while listening to the review on this one lecture, the teacher asks a question and someone answers. The guy spook good English (a small surprise) and with no accent (indian/east asian/german). Still, the answer was wrong, and remarkabely stupid. I started shouting as usual. “Man what an idiot! I can’t believe I study with these people…”. Then something came over me. I replayed that portion of a video, raised the volume to max, and listened hard. I replayed it again, and listened to the extremely stupid answer to the teacher’s very obvious question. The third time, I had already turned crimson red, from top to bottom (thank god I was studying alone in my room). You see, the stupid answer came from yours truly.

Thirdly, well, there was a thirdly, but I have some much, much more interesting things to do. I’ll get back to thirdly sometime.
